4/28- Cast on! I’m a little concerned about the bag having a long enough strap to fit as a crossbody bag when stretched out, but reading through the pattern it looks like I should be able to knit as long a strap as I desire (at the end) , so fingers crossed that this is mid/plus size friendly!

After reading some other project page notes here on Rav, I’m going to continue increasing in the first section to create a larger bag (it seemed like several people were disappointed in the size being too small- measurements in the pattern would help with this). Increased to 50 sts in first increase section (doing so every 4 rows).

5/10/25 - For the decreases - to match my increases at the beginning, I’m continuing to decrease every 4 rows until my stitch count reaches 30 stitches, then switching to decreases every 8 rows to reach the initial cast on of 16.

5/13/2025- Finished!!!!! I LOVE my Scrunchie Bag! It’s a fabulous size and holds my wallet, keys, medicine pouch, phone, and a cake of yarn + needles/hook and small notions pouch. Exactly what I was hoping for! I do think it could use a lining, but for now I’ve just tossed in a small canvas tote and it’s working great.

For seaming I chose to do the mattress stitch instead of a crochet sl stitch because I felt the crochet looked too pronounced on mine. It was tedious, but it looks great!!!! I used elastic paracord to thread through my straps and I love the result.

Great pattern! I could see myself making another <3
