Notes

This pattern is NOT size inclusive. The largest size graded is for a 50” bust. This pattern has been in my queue since 2019 and the designer did start grading her patterns inclusively in 2020, but she no longer designs and hadn’t updated her older designs. While no one should have to pay money and then do extra work to make sure a pattern can fit their size, I do think this would be a relatively simple grade/modification for a maker who has some experience with tailoring patterns to their bodies and really likes the look of this pattern.

Notes:

I decided to work the back panel first because I needed a mindless stockinette project to take to Disney :)

I realized after doing the base of my back panel that my gauge was going to be a little off. So I made some modifications to get me closer to the pattern schematics.

For the back panel:
I stopped at row 68 (10 rows ribbing, 58 stockinette) and then did armhole shaping.

After decreases (40 rows, ending with 60 sts), my work measured 12.75” instead of 11/8” in pattern. So I continued on to knit only 24 rows (instead of 46) to finish at 16.4”

For the front panels:
I decreased 1 st every row for 35 rows instead of 26, and then did every other row decreasing until row 68 where I ended with 78 sts.

I followed in pattern the remainder of the decreasing (but with different row counts). For the final stockinette section, I only worked until row 120 (instead of row 164) to achieve the 16.4” length.

These modifications resulted in a sharper decrease in the front panels, making the top a little more open and “decolletage-y” (which is my preference).

I did block the top length wise somewhat aggressively because I found in my first block that the garment was much shorter than expected on my body (measurements were per the pattern schematic, I just hadn’t visualized it correctly) and much more oversized than I wanted (not according to pattern).

My second block resulted in a top that is 18.75” long and 41” wide giving me negative ease at the bust and positive ease at the waist.

I made my ties 48” long.

I love the fit!!! It’s a tad more oversized than I originally wanted, but it’s super comfy, bewby, and I really like the look.
