I started crocheting as a young child and through my teens. I haven’t picked up a hook in 30 years or so and when I saw this throw I had to come out of my long retirement. It is stunning to say the least. I would say I have about 100 hours into this. It was a labor of love and worth the time.

I choose Vanna’s Oatmeal for the main color but wanted some pop so choose several shades of green, a light brown and then the purple to really pop. The purple really brings out the details of the motif flowers.

I didn’t care for the large spaces between the motifs. The circles do conform so don’t be afraid to encourage them to fit into the space. The main advice I can give when sewing them together is to so as the pattern says. Sew motifs B and C into a circle and place around motif A. I left the ends loose when doing this so I could come back and adjust the spaces as needed. It took some time and patience but it turned out exactly as I envisioned and once I got the hang on it I didn’t feel like I was working with an alien :-) Once you get motifs B and C together the rest falls into place much faster.

I used my coffee table to assemble motifs B and C and then the floor for the rest. I also only used 6 tassels. Three on each end. I used a size E hook for the tassel cords. J seemed too large. I also did 5 stitches and not 4 on the cords. Four was just too tight to work and 5 turned out fine.

I plan on starting one for myself today :-)
