Striped yarn: 64g; pink yarn: 27g

I worked to end of arch shaping. To make the heel in the pink yarn, I decided to put in an afterthought heel instead of the one in the pattern (though note the short row heel in the pattern has 24 rows).
I used waste yarn for the afterthought heel.
Then I restarted the pattern at ankle shaping section.

Afterthought heel from TFA toe-up sock: pick up 36 sts above and below waste yarn. In first row, I picked up 2 extra sts at the gap between needles, however I’m not sure the best way to do that and not have holes. !worked a decrease round every other row: k1, ssk, knit to 3 stitches from end of row, k2tog, k1, repeat on second needle. Alternate row: k all.
Repeat until 24 stitches remain. Cut yarn leaving a 12” tail, using kitchener stitch graft heel closed. My grafted heel is pointy on one side in particular. I read a suggestion afterwards to do passed over decreases at the corner before grafting.
