Notes

First time using the Provisional Cast-On. Frogged it after I was somehow knitting it inside out after picking up the cast-on stitches from the waste thread.

Version 2 cast on January 5.

Despite careful counting and feeling like I was following the pattern exactly, the decrease lines are wonky on this one as well. I’m not sure what I did wrong, but oh well.

Working on the ear and having trouble finding the meaning of s2sk, as googling shows a few different methods. I think this is the one the designer means: https://vimeo.com/119065942. I also found this description: “The s2sk decrease is a double decrease: slip two stitches as if to k2tog, then slip one more as if to knit; then insert the left needle into these three stitches and k3tog. (This is identical to ssk except that the first slip takes two stitches instead of one.)”

Found quite a few typos in the section for the ear sections. The final stitch count is off from row 13 to 17 for the left ear. Should be 18 stitches after round 13, 16 stitches after round 15 and 14 stitches after round 13. (Same error carried over to the right ear, except rounds 14, 16 and 18.)

In round 17 on the left ear, round 18 on the right ear, it reads Ks instead of K2.

I found this pattern more complex than it had to be. More explanation would have been nice, especially in the ear sections, though I did figure most of it out on my own and with a little help from Google.

Finished! Learned a lot of new tricks: s2sk, provisional cast on (though I don’t particularly like it) and how to accidentally start knitting on the wrong side instead of the right side, i-cords, purl bind-off… maybe a few others. Got more comfortable pulling up the ladder to M1. Didn’t add any eyes because the eyes are so expressive and so important that I can’t imagine doing them justice.

Baby Yoda got a little too fat for his robes, so they’re a little snugger than I wanted, but overall this was a fun project.
