865g before washing. i expect some changes in size because i did not actually wash the handspun yarn before knitting with it (couldn’t be arsed) and had to spin some more, when i ran out.

ETA: 820g after a couple of good long soaks in wool wash. huzzah! Not much of a change in size, which is great. Clotilde fits perfectly, I think!

this was fun and i finally used up the last samla box of fiber from my 2019 fleece washing adventure. just in time for the new stinky fleeces tbh. :D what i learned of my spinning is this: i need to lighten my yarn and stop myself from putting so much twist in there. i definitely want to try out singles this year and spinning loftier yarn. i really don’t want to be lugging sweaters around that weigh a kilo. that said, my carbeth is getting a lot of wear and the lonely tree shawl is excellent for covering my swinging chair. i produced a kind of hefty, durable yarn that still feels good against my skin.

ETA: I knit the size M on 7mm needles and had a really goog laugh when the original size xs on 10mm needles was supposed to be 1m for chest circumference. Like, no. That is not an XS in any way :D or a hell of a lot of positive ease that I wouldn’t even know how to wear. The reason I picked size M with 7mm needles was that I knew my gauge from my Sheep to Carbeth Cardi for which I CO some 107 stitches for the body, I think. I probably could have knit the S, too, and it would have been fine. this way, there’s a bit of positive ease to allow for ventilation, but not so much so that I would drown in it. :)

Lovely pattern design, though, and once you’ve gotten the hang of the charts it basically knits itself. I would definitely think that being able to undo stitches (to reverse the direction of decreases in short rows, for instance, the pattern wasn’t particularly clear on how to do them on the WS), to be able to read your own knitting, and to pick up anywhere in a pattern based on lace charts would be essential skills to have, hence the difficulty rating. I welcomed the challenge after a huge garter stitch project, to be perfectly honest and I’m sure things would go even smoother on a second attempt ^^
