Notes

August 5, 2025

Needle sizes to get gauge:

  • Stocking stitch: 4.5mm
  • Colourwork: 5mm
  • Texture A: 4.5mm
  • Texture B: 5mm

Planned modifications:

  • Lengthen body (and possibly sleeves)
  • No mohair for neckband/collar or ribbing on hem and sleeves (may hold two strands of merino, depending on yardage left.)
  • Half-twisted rub (ktbl, p) for all ribbing.

Cast on 41 stitches for size S/M (for 7.5” of ease).

August 9, 2025

Finished upper part of the back piece.

August 10, 2025

Finished left shoulder. Picked up stitches for right shoulder.

August 11, 2025

Finished right shoulder.

August 17, 2025

Finished front piece and joined for the body.

First try on! Looks good but will definitely have to lengthen the body.

September 11, 2025

Second try on about halfway through chart B (end of ball of yarn) and it looks fine. Currently measures 38cm — may not have to lengthen the body.

September 14, 2025

After multiple attempts, successfully picked up stitches for collar using two strands of merino.

Knitted about 5cm of ribbing before deciding that I didn’t like it. Ripped back and started half-twisted rib (ktbl) which looks much neater.

September 17, 2025

Finished the collar! Didn’t bind off as I was folding it down because I misread the instructions but it still fits nicely and binding off separately didn’t make too much of a difference to how it sits.

September 19, 2025

Completed chart b.

Body currently measures 44cm so I’m going to do the sleeves and then block the whole thing before I decide whether or not to lengthen.

September 23, 2025

Picked up stitches for right sleeve. Worked chart c until end of second colourwork section.

September 25, 2025

Completed right sleeve.

September 30, 2025

Blocked mid-project because I was concerned it might be too big. It did grow, both in length and width, but not enough for concern. Sleeve is a little longer than expected but I like the look.

The fabric is gorgeous too, and the colourwork has evened out nicely.

October 3, 2025

Picked up stitches for left sleeve. Started chart c.

October 6, 2025

Completed left sleeve.

Also noticed that I’ve done one of the colourwork sections wrong but it is consistently wrong (and therefore doesn’t look too weird) so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

October 20, 2025

Added another section of texture A to the bottom of the body because I didn’t like the look of the long section of stocking stitch.

The bind off took 400 days (10 days) but it’s done!
