Notes

Combined two patterns, both found on raverly:

Quick to Felt Gifts, Collection of Seven Bowls by Carol Bristol - Mesa Bowl

Sheep Cap by Freyalyn Close-Hainsworth

  • Cast on with Universal Deluxe Worsted yarn on size 13 needles.
  • Knitted bottom of Mesa Bowl as pattern is written.
  • Added WoolieBullie and held yarn doubled with Universal Worsted until the last 2 or 3 rows of pattern.
  • Dropped WoolieBullie and finished bowl with the Universal.
  • Felted Bowl, stuffed with inside-out plastic grocery bags. Be sure to use the bags inside-out to avoid ink bleed on any printed bags.

Proceeded with Sheep Cap head, ears and tail pattern:

  • Using Universal Deluxe Worsted in Black, using size 9 needles as written.

I did not do the optional curls.

Tail & Ears:

Universal Deluxe Worsted Black, size 9 needles as written.

Used the following pattern to create feet with the Worsted Black yarn:

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/oh-balls

I experimented with different sized needles to achieve the size feet I wanted. Wound up knitting several to get 4 the same size.

Felted all black objects prior to stuffing the head, feet and tail. After stuffing and using black yarn and a darning needle I shaped the face and finished all other black items then stitched them into place. I glued on some purchased eyes and embroidered the mouth.

If I did this again I might try make some small-thick pompoms for the feet instead of the knitted balls.

Won First Prize (crazy category) at The Yarn Patch Felted Bowl Contest!!!
