Notes

“When in doubt wear red.”

  • Bill Blass (fashion designer)

The people have spoken; I shall use the red!
I’ll use the silver-lined gold beads in the spacers where you’ll see regular beading, but the silver-lined red beads for any beading in the lace panels for a more subtle effect.

2/12/11: CO using 3.25mm circular needle and German long-tail co. Switched to 2.25mm circular; beaded spacer done (8rows).
4/12/11: Finished first repeat of Day 1. Only now do I realize the errata saying “slip 2 sts as if to knit, not as if to purl”. Not tinking this; will do the 2nd repeat correctly and look at the difference.
6/12/11: Third time’s the charm. After finishing Day 1 yesterday I decided to start again on a 2.25mm circular needle. Finished Day 1 today. Yay! At this rate I’ll finish early May…
10/12/11: Finished Day 2. ETA: End March…
13/12/11: (Cool date!) Finished Day 3. ETA: Early March…
17/12/11: Finished Day 4. ETA: Early March…
21/12/11: Finished Day 5
22/12/11: Finished Day 6. ETA: Late February… And just noticed I’ve repeated rows 11 and 12 on Day 5. Oh well, not undoing it now!
2/1/12: Finished Day 7. ETA: Late March…
4/1/12: Finished Day 8; One third the way through! ETA: Mid March…
7/1/12: Finished Day 9. Used 2 different p2tog to maintain the correct twist on the right side.
8/1/12: Finished Day 10. ETA: Early March…
15/1/12: Finished Day 11.
20/1/12: Away last week at Summer School, so no knitting! :( Finished Day 12 tonight; pics tomorrow :) Unblocked measurement so far: approx. 27” x 10.5” (70 x 27cm).
24/1/12: Finished Day 13.
26/1/12: Australia Day public holiday, and lots of knitting done! :) Finished Day 14. As on Days 7 & 8, I purled through the back loop on the stitches directly above the ktbl stitches; it rasies the line of stitches from the background nicely. I also twisted the knit stitches on the (sl1k1yok1psso), not that it makes huge difference. Repeated r3-10 a second time (26 rows total) because I enjoyed this pattern.
28/1/12: Day 15 done!
30/1/12: Finished Day 16. 2/3 of the way there!
1/2/12: Finished Day 17. ETA: Late Feb…
2/2/12: Finished Day 18. Can’t say that I like this pattern.
9/2/12: Finished Day 19. I used knittingwhale’s suggestion, where <= is sl1 knitwise k3tog tbl
10/2/12: Day 20 done! Not far to go… :)
11/2/12: Day 21 done
15/2/12: Day 22 finished
6/3/12: After a lengthy break, Day 23 is finished. One day to go!
18/3/12: Finished Day 24; just the spacer and blocking to go!
20/5/12: Finished! Now to block…. :)
23/9/12: Finally blocked the scarf this past week. To be entered in the EGV 2012 Annual Exhibition: As You Like It :)
