Notes

I should have kept track of how many times I restarted these mittens. At one point I had 5 partials, but I know there were at least 6 occasions where I pulled back to the cuff.

Once I ran out of yarn (and limited edition, I couldn’t find more). A few tries to get the size right (finally added 10 stitches (!!) above the thumb gusset. My theory is that having three strands of lighter yarn (two in the water section) pulled it that much tighter). A few due to dissatisfaction with the leaves/tree trunks.

Yarns not listed: the brown F02 for the trunks, the final sky.
-=-

Switched to 1.5 mm needles because the 1.25 circs are just not as smooth in the join and kinda annoying to use. 48 stitches around.

Crochet-provisional cast on 48, knit 5 rounds with medium blue and larger needles, pick up cast-on edge and purl 1 round with the sand colour. Transfer stitches to 1.5mm needles, alternating one blue with one sand.

Begin pattern:
Round 1-5: 1 sand, 2 blue around
Round 6-10: blue in front

Start on colourwork with medium and dark blue for the water.

Still in the swatching phase.

Gauge using 1.25mm needles, double knitting: 28 stitches, 42 rows.

So, 52 stitches around.
