Notes

Test knit for Emily. Once I saw her Braevall cardigan on our Norway trip in early September, I badgered her to let me test knit it. It was one of those patterns that you have.to.knit.now.

I guess this will be my overriding ‘knit of Norway’ memory: beautiful emotive design, in a pale silvery grey reminiscent of weathered Norwegian timber. I really rate this Coopknits sock yarn; it’s lovely to knit with, produces a beautifully soft, yet hardwearing fabric, and the colour palette is lovely too.

The buttons are from a yarn shop in Tønsberg (where I could have bought most of the buttons in the shop). I’ve, for the first time ever (and suggested by Emily in the pattern), sewn some backing ribbon around the front ribbing, then added the buttons and some snap fasteners. And I hate sewing! Looks great though and well worth the extra effort.

I am in love with my cardigan!!!

Mods: exactly as the pattern, though I knitted the armscye deeper for my size (and consequently needed to pick up more sts for the sleeves). No bust darts.
