Mods: finer needle to get gauge; no garter in the pattern (all stocking st with k1/p1 ribbing); no Rowan Colourspun, just Felted Tweed; mishmash of leftover shades (Seafarer is the MC); knitted in one piece to the armholes.

Much-desired, much-pondered over fair isle cardigan for my youngest brother Adam. When I showed this pattern to my other brother Dan, he said: “who does he think he is, Sebastian Flyte?” (hence the project name). Adam does indeed have the air of a slightly bohemian country gent; I do worry though how he’s ever going to wear this, considering he lives a boiling hot, beach-ified lifestyle near Sydney in Australia. Still, he’s insisted, and does have his gilded image to maintain after all…

Shades used:
A: 177 Clay
B: 167 Maritime/178 Seasalter/152 Watery
C: 158 Pine/161 Avocado
D: 181 Mineral/193 Cumin
E: 153 Phantom
F: 170 Seafarer
G: 160 Gilt/175 Cinnamon/157 Camel

The 1st shade stated is the main one used; the others, odds and ends in the same colour family. I’m splicing the colour changes as much as possible, especially where stripes are worked.

9.11: I really hope this isn’t going to be too big for Adam; his chest (he says) is 40-41”, so I’ve knitted the 42” size. However, my gauge has obviously gone somewhat awry, and the cardigan has turned out more like 46”, yikes… husband is now eyeing it up. I’ll dry it off flat for a bit, then give it a firm blast in the trusty tumble drier. Waiting for some buttons now, then we’ll see how it’s looking…

Next day: 20 mins on a low setting has done the trick - chest about 44” now, which should be fine with a bit of ease. All hail, Tumble Drier.

13.11: buttons finally sewn on - really nice wooden reindeer?moose ones from ButtonEnvyUK on Etsy. Well, a lot of work, bruv; let’s hope it fulfils your dreams!

Update message from Adam: “I think I will now base my entire wardrobe around it with tweed suits and shirts that require cufflinks”. Lol
