oh dear, another pattern-of-monumental-imperative, just when I’m trying to plough on with my daughter’s xmas present…

I’m going to use some lovely individual skeins (the Posh Ophelia held double), plus some equally lovely leftovers: some Northbound BFL/silk/cashmere from this knit; and some OMD Merino Light from this knit. I think I’ll use 6 rather than 7 shades - I’ll see how it evolves…

27.12: finished today and blocking ever so gently: it’s inherently large and I don’t want it any bigger! I’ve pinned out the edges just to straighten them a bit (eta a day later: just measured my shawl and it’s quite a bit longer than the original lol!) I’m not sure of the yardage, but it weighs 330gm.

Mods: I’ve actually ended up using 6 colours and I’ve also curtailed the end of it slightly: I’ve got the ‘spine’ to finish a bit early, by knitting a sl1, K3tog for the end section.

Pattern: I’ve enjoyed knitting this, watching/anticipating the colour changes/fading. I haven’t checked if the pattern update has this, but I would have liked a schematic to give an idea of the final shape. It doesn’t really matter though: you end up with a shawl-like lozenge shape, albeit an asymmetric one.

This is my Bowie knitting tribute: an amazing album (I have it still on vinyl from 1972) and I love how Bowie looks on the back cover, just before his Ziggy transformation. I think he would have worn something like this shawl!

update 30.12: just had a couple of days by the sea, with perfect sunshine for shawl-modelling…
