I found both yarns in a John Lewis bargain bin just before Christmas and particularly wanted to knit this pullover pattern with it; luckily, the shades were just perfect too (they create a lovely vintage faded pink together). I think I paid about £4 per ball for each.

I think with the garter stitch, this pattern needs to be seamed in sections, so I’m sticking with the pattern. Madwoman that I may be, I have come to rather like seaming, particularly garter fabric.

Mods: I’m making it a couple of inches longer in the body.

FO: I feel like it’s taken me a really long time to knit this, but actually it hasn’t… I think it’s the garter stitch that has fooled me! And although garter st is easy and sometimes monotonous, it hasn’t been quite so, as I found I had to be incredibly careful and watchful of my knitting as it was so easy to drop a strand with the doubled yarn; many a time I had to unpick down to knit in a stray loop. Anyway, it’s now done, seamed and blocking and looking pretty good.

Pattern: very straightforward; my only moment of uncertainty was about the decreasing at the top of the sleeves: all other decreasing/increasing was 3 sts in from the edge (body and lower sleeve), but the directions for the top of the sleeve didn’t state this (ie just to decrease at the ends of the row). I looked at the photos and wasn’t sure, so decreased 3 sts in as per the rest of the pattern. Now, I’m not too sure! but it is as it is…
