sweater #16 2016

Mods: yarn held double as with my first one, and all mods exactly as before (eg stocking st body, tighter gauge cuffs). I’ve also added a button/hole on the front (I just felt this would be useful as I sometimes wear madamsec#1 with a pin closure).

I’ve used less yardage this time so my gauge may have been slightly off: still, it’s such a loose, relaxed fit that I think I can get away with this (plus a more vigorous blocking session than usual!). NB: yardage above reflects yarn doubled.

Yarn: the Austermann Kidsilk was leftover from an earlier knit, though I did have to buy a few more balls: anyway, it gives a lovely halo to the fabric. The Polo&Co Meygal is lovely stuff, much softer than might be expected from a rustic wool and camel mix. The mind boggles over how the camel hair was harvested and spun though…

Anyway, it’s interesting to see how the different yarn bases work with the same pattern: there’s only a small % of silk overall compared with my first version, and the reduction in drape is noticeable. This one is much more boxy and structured somehow, and feels more like a jacket than a cardigan. But I love it! and I love this pattern!
