Notes

I’ve been looking forward to knitting these mitts, not least because I loved the Marius pullover pattern which I knitted with some actual Norwegian wool… actually bought in Norway! And I have some left to knit these with…

The cream yarn I’m using came from my late sister-in-law’s bit of a stash, ‘inherited’ last year: no labels, but I believe this to be some rather old, but perfectly fine, Shetland wool. I have quite a bit of it, so it’ll come in useful for stranded colourwork.

Knitted as per the pattern. I think these mitts will end up slightly large on me: both yarns used are on the heavy fingering end of the scale, so this has perhaps affected my gauge a bit. I can’t go down a needle size as these are the finest ones in my possession! Quite hard on my hands to knit these too, in the fine gauge (I can even feel the beginning of a blister on my right thumb cry - so taking lots of breaks). Lovely though… I do like this Marius pattern; someone pointed out to me that the bottom part of the pattern resembles a piece of lace edging.
