Yarn is single ply with about 100 meters to 100 grams. Hand-dyed with orange Kool Aid. The pattern is “Ella” from “Hip Knit Hats” but I had a problem with the gauge. The specified gauge is 12 stitches to 10cm using a similar weight yarn on a 6mm needle. I had to go all the way up to 13mm needle to get even close to that gauge and I tend to knit loose! I needed to dye another skein of yarn because I ran out of yarn before the project was finished even though it shouldn’t have taken more than 100 meters of yarn. When it was finished it looked a lot bigger than it did in the pictures (although it sits good on my head), so I figure the gauge in the book must be wrong.

Anyway, this is my first project with my hand-dyed Kool-Aid yarn. At least it smells fruity ;-)
