Row 1: kfb, knit to last stitch before marker, kfb, repeat all around
Row 2: knit all

6 per section, repeat until 38 stitches per section ending with a row 1. (31 rows)

Cap measurements: 9.25” long side, 4.375” from button to edge. To get 9.25” need 46 sts, to get 4.375” need 30 rows, which is less so end there, stitches will stretch horizontally.

Next section: decreases to stay on cap
Row 1: k2tog, k to marker ssk repeat around
Row 2: knit all

Repeat until 30 sts per section ending on row 1 (7 tot. rows)

Switch to size 5 needles and start 1x1 ribbing
Row 1: knit all
Row 2: appropriate decrease at each side of markers (k2tog, ssk, p2tog)

Repeat until 26 sts per section ending on row 2 (4 tot. rows)

Stretchy bind off.
