Saw a picture on reddit of a schematic of a granny square blanket that had 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 row squares arranged to be funky. Picked some colors I liked and after going in the flow order I wanted for the first 12 row square (only 9 colors, so just repeating the first 3) using a random number generator to pick colors. If it gives me a color I used in the last ~4 or so rows for the 10 and 12 row squares, I won’t repeat it, and won’t use any color more than twice in any square, plus no repeats in 8 or below row squares.
