Notes

Happy birthday to my wonderful husband- starting this sweater for him on his birthday (even though he won’t wear it until much later in fall).

Making size 3 (40”)- with some waist tapering. Actual chest measurements are 38” and waist is 30”

MC= Depth
CC1= Faded
CC2= Chestnut

After separating for the sleeves, I left a side marker under the underarm (opposite of the BOR marker). I knit 13 rounds before beginning the tapering (decreases).

Decrease round every seven (7) rounds, ten (10) times in total…
(k2, k2tog, k to 4st before m, ssk, k2, sm)rep

Due to the decreasing, I only had 180 sts around when I put in the removable markers for pocket placement. Therefore, I followed the spacing instructions for size 2 instead of size 3 for the pocket.

My husband is only 5’8” and rather short waisted so I also made it a bit shorter than suggested (by 12 rows) and then moved up the pocket a bit (by 8 rows). I also only did two inches of ribbing at the bottom hem and sleeves.

Good video link for picking up the pocket stitches: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZDglpAVfTA

There are a lot of finishing details in this pattern. Finishing (and sewing) is not my strength and so I found this pattern more difficult that it would appear on the surface as a simple stiped raglan. However, the pattern is extremely detailed and well written.

The Edge-to-Edge seam video link recommended in the pattern for the hood does not work any longer. So I did some searching, and found one that described it like a mattress. Ugg- what a disaster! I am an excellent knitter but really bad at sewing… consequently the back of the hood had a horrible visible seam cry. It sucks to knit such a beautiful sweater and then have such a fail with the hood. So, I ripped out the seam and am trying it again with a video that I saw on youtube for an overcast seam: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6IFSeCKmzc - much better!!! Phew!

The hood used nearly an entire skein of MC.
