I knit the body of the hat until 5.5” from the start of the body (not counting the ribbing) before beginning the decreases.

There are a number of pattern errors in decrease rounds. Should be:
Row 1: there should be an asterisk at the end of the line
Row 2: the very final p3 of the round should actually be a p2.
Row6: the asterisk should be AFTER the p1, not before
Row 8: should be a p2 at end of row
Row 9: there should be an asterisk at the beginning of the row- before the P3.
