Notes

Knit size 4 (44”) for David. My brother lives in a desert climate where it is warm all year, so this will be a perfect shirt for him to wear year round. The goal is for me to work on it between other projects and give it to him as a holiday gift this December when we visit.

I wish Max provided a link or more detail around the Turkish Cast-On- which I’ve never used previously. I used the Andrea Mowry video for a tutorial. But since she describes it as a cast-on method for toe-up socks, I just didn’t really understand what was going on or why we would use it for the collar. Instructions were a bit unclear at the beginning, but I just went with it and hoped I would understand how it all comes together eventually. I followed Andrea Mowry’s instructions and created half the number of cast-on loops required for the pattern cast-on. Once you start knitting on both sides, past the initial set up of the cast-on, you’ll have the correct number of stitches.

When using the Turkish cast-on, you are starting from a closed line and knitting upward in the round from there. You work until your piece measures 2.25” straight from that cast-on edge before starting the collar shaping.

This sweater has beautiful edges and details. The folded hem and edges take a long time but it does make for a really professional finish.

Blocking is so important with this project to get the dimensions just right given the stretch of the fabric.
