First fiber spun on The Little Meggie (scroll all the way down on the site) Kick Spindle (pic 3).
FIBER:
1- Batt was “Ocean Sunset Fancy Batt” by JustDucky48. Hand dyed Romney Wool, Silk and recycled Sari Silk Threads. arrived feeling ‘sticky’. Color was vibrant and luscious in person, much more so than it looked in the picture on Etsy.com.
2- Combined with solid yellow Corriedale Fiber purchased from http://www.shuttlesspindlesandskeins.com and spun on a Navajo Spindle. It was my first fiber spun on the NS (pic 5). Measures roughly 18 wpi (pic 9).
PROCESS: Transfered two cops made from the Batt to one bobbin. Ball winder used to wind Corriedale wool from Navajo Spindle into a center pull ball. Majacraft Pioneer Wheel and an Ashford Lazy Kate (center pull ball was just placed on the rug) used to produce 2Ply yarn. (Pics 3-6)
30 Aug 2010: Skeined on a Niddy Noddy (pics 1, 7 & 8). Hank (pic 2) needs to be washed.
1 Sept 2010: Took it to Maggie Casey’s Spinning 2 Class (my last one) and she said it was a bit underplied for knitting with and suggested a fix….but since I intend to weave with it, it will be okay. I really wanted to keep the nature of the yarn showing through and I do like the way it looks…a lot!.
20 May 2011: Last bit of unplied yellow was plied with itself, washed and is drying. Pic 10.
Balled Pic 11, 2 oz.
