6 March 2015: I’m really pleased with how this is looking. Frothy white lace. I’m thinking this panel would make a nice lace beach cover or top, as well as the summer wrap I originally planned. I’m going to knit more yardage and hold it up to me to see what it might end up as.
9 March 2015: Decided to make this into a poncho.
Using large needles pick up sts along one side edge (now a top edge), join, K1, P1 around for one round. Change to smaller needles and continue around for 2 rounds then BO.
Turn the piece sideways and kitchener as much as you wish. I seamed roughly 16”. Since I’d knit this a little longer (now that it’s sideways) than I really need for a poncho I did not want to join it all the way down to the bottom edge, it hangs too long for my arms and constricts movement. I chose to Kitchener the wrong sides together and leave a raised seam on the front. It just looked better.
Using the same basic method one could make a skirt that would look great over a slip or a bathing suit.
