Notes

Lathika’s head measures 54 centimetres around so the band needs to be 52 centimetres for a snug fit.

So happy I can do the crossed post stitches underneath, even. Makes me want to try cables again even though I prolly still can’t do those.

If I run out of the greens, I might use the yellow or find a matching green in my stash. I’ll see when I get there.

God, I just cannot get 120 stitches picked up along the brim. It’s either too few or too many so I’m going with way too many. 136 sts.

Switched to 3.5mm for the hat body.

Think I’ll go with the Alegria Leo when I run out of green. The yellow I had originally intended goes much better with a more olive shade of green so I’ll keep it for that. And I don’t have any other greens in my stash, weirdly enough.

Need to get another skein of Leo. Those puff clusters are going to eat yarn like a motherfucker.

Ha, okay, so the extra stitches meant I had to end Round 2 with the puff cluster in the final stitch before the join, then do the ch 3 and join to the starting dc2tog. Looks better than if I ended with the dc3tog.

Went with the Ivy from West Yorkshire Spinners which is an exact match to the green of the band so that was super lucky. I still have some of the variegated left so I might use that for the final round for just that spot of interest.

Switched to the variegated for the last two rounds.

Didn’t use the whole skein of Ivy, obvs. Maybe just a quarter? I’ll weigh the remainder at some point.

Rather pleased with this despite how big it is. Makes for a pleasing drape. And I’m loving how light the West Yorkshire Exquisite is. Though I am glad I used the merino/nylon for the band. Fits me snugly and my measurements are the same as Lathika so it should fit her well too.
