Notes

This probably won’t work but I’m going to give a good try. And I’m using sc instead of esc cos I don’t really like how that looks with this yarn. I prefer the sc look in this instance.

I had to do 6 extra rows to meet gauge so I thought that meant I needed to space out the increases every third or fourth row instead of alternate rows. But actually the increases were fine as long as I went to the 280 sts for the large size.

Also need to pay attention to how many stitches there are on the sleeve portion of the yoke because I don’t want too much material on there like the Dark Frost sweater.

Won’t do sleeves cos I can’t be bothered doing all those decreases or whatever for a decent fit. Plus I don’t know how the colours are going to be. I don’t want mismatched sleeves so they need to be both black or none at all. Just keep this as a summer top rather than a light sweater.

The medium was too small around the armholes so ripped it right back to the last increase (266) and did another round of increases (280) and then did 6 rounds of scs before splitting the yoke.

Godd, suddenly occurred to me that I didn’t need to rip it back. I should have just chained more for the underarm. Oh well, maybe the 280 reduced to 190 stitch count for the large will mean the body will be not tight like I feared would happen with the 266 to 174 for the medium.

And oh my god, the seam is on the back of the shoulder. That was a shock. Though I suppose that means the seam will be on the side of the body so okay.

Ahh, good thing I redid the splitting of the yoke cos I suddenly noticed the tip in the instructions about cutting the yarn after splitting and then reattaching it in the centre of the underarm so the seam of the body stays on the side.

I made sure to start the body on the right side of the fabric so there’d be no subtle change of the scs.

Did ch 6 on the underarm but decided to do 8 scs instead of 6 just in case the body got too tight around my abdomen. Prolly should have chained 8 cos that edge is right up in my armpit but not cutting in.

Increased by one stitch on the body just to make it more comfortable so did 195 scs around. And happily, the more rounds I did, the easier the armhole became.

Had to do some surgery on one armhole where the corner stitches stretched hideously but sokay, salvaged it.

Did just enough of the solid teal to finish off the top without the colour dominating the rest. Came to a decent length.

I love the fineness of this drape but the colours mean I’ll prolly never wear it.
