Since the pattern doesn’t include instructions for the puff stitch but the blog does, I’ve copied it here:
Puff stitch: Yarn over, pull up loop, pull through all 3 loops. Repeat til 9 loops on hook, yarn over, pull through 8, yo and pull through 2.
Except that didn’t even make sense, so modded it to pull through 2 loops at a time. Still way too bulky for my liking so modded it to 6 loops on the hook, then yarn over, pull through 5, yo and pull through 2.
Mods as a combinaton of PiggyWiggy96’s notes and my own tweaks:
Started with a magic circle of 16dc but didn’t pull it fully closed.
Adding an extra dc on each end of the row for the first and last sections for turning. These are NOT to be worked as part of the pattern. They’re just there to assist with the post stitch rows. I used the alternative turning chain technique for the start of each row rather than chains.
Row 5 has a slight error: after the second lot of 7dc, it should read sk (1 puff and 1 sp not sc).
Row 39 - work with only ch-1 spaces (remove the ch-2 spaces).
Row 40 - substitute Row 26 instead.
Last section after Row 44 should be: repeat Rows 9-12, ending on row 9.
Otherwise, the pattern’s really simple and clear enough.
Hmm. Ended with 200 sts (including the central tip) on row 38. So I might rip it back and do more repeats of rows 28 and 29 to get to 204.
Nope, didn’t like how short both sections were so ripped it back to the first section and kept going til that measured 47cms down. I’ll just have to work out the stitch counts when I get to the third section.
14 cms down for the second section cos I didn’t want it to become too long. Make sure to end with an even number of stitches.
For the third section, I only did two lots of the lace repeat just to finish it off.
Just the right size, I reckon.
