Notes

3rd time making an Oslo hat and this time this one’s for me. :) Love this hat pattern, I’ll be making yet another for my Dad later this month.

I didn’t make too many alterations or modifications to the pattern and followed all of the recommended measurements.

For the brim, I cast on using Longtail CO method because I find it easy to pick up stitches from this CO. I then marked every 10 stitches using a safety pin type stitch marker, directly into the cast on stitch itself. This made it super easy to line up the stitches when folding the brim and knitting together.

This time I modified the decreases using a k2tog-left, instead of the Slip 1, K, pass over stitch the pattern called for. This looks to be the neatest left-leaning decrease stitch yet, definitely better than an SSK as well.
I followed this video for the k2tog-left:

This yarn is a heavier weight than the pattern calls for, so the hat has a wonderful thick and squishy feel to it.
