GAUGE
I don’t have US7/4.5mm cable needles, so I chose to knit a swatch with US6 and US8 needles. I didn’t like the way the fabric looked with the US8 needles, so I’m going with the US6.
I was at about 90% gauge with US6, so I’m sizing up to an L for this pattern.

FRONT/BACK PIECE
I knit the back piece following the pattern for 17 rows, then cut the yarn and started on the front piece. I joined the front and back piece in the round on row 18, using a k2tog tbl.

BODY
Due to my smaller gauge I had to knit 60rows of the body to reach 6in in length before starting on the center pattern. The rest was knit following pattern instructions.

SPLITTING FRONT AND BACK
I split the front and back when I reached the armhole decrease section. The back piece was placed on a lifeline while I finished the front piece. Since I had decreased one stitch when combining in the round, I decided to give the full 6 edge stitches to the front piece. For the back piece, I had to pick up 1 stitch on either side to be able to continue knitting 6 edge stitches. I followed the rest per pattern instructions.

STRAPS
I knit the front straps to the recommended 3in (26 rows) called for in the pattern and left the stitches live. When I knitted up the back piece, I realized that the straps were just way too short, so I ended up having to do about 4.5in (36 rows) on the back straps just to be able to reach the front.
I grafted the straps together following instructions for a ribbed kitchener stitch. To be honest, I don’t think the instructions were quite correct, the join is definitely noticeable and it doesn’t really look ribbed at all. Definitely not my best work, on both the join and the strap length, but oh well. It’s good enough to not be worth redoing.
