Notes

I need to remember to put this yarn in my stash!

12 rows split hem, I accidentally did p1 at the ends on the right side on the first half, but I kind of like how it looks, honestly, so I’m going to go with it for both sides

August 18, 2026

Split for sleeves at ~9.5inches

Starting with boatneck side (have made with symmetrical split hem so hopefully this time it can be reversible!)

August 19, 2026

In looking at color blocking notes on previous Rift, realized that I had done a custom fit bicep -- not because of bicep size but because of row gauge (6st/inch instead of pattern 5st/inch)

After completing the math in the pattern and looking at notes on rows of colors:

  • Number F: 43
  • Number G: 25

End orchid at the end of row 19 (WS), new color to start on row 20 (RS)

Tried the grey and did not like it, also the turquoise and likewise. Have ordered some in thistle. May switch to other side while I wait for the mail.

August 20, 2026

Cut yarn on boatneck side and moved that side to its own cable, starting orchid rows of v-neck side

August 26, 2026

switched back to boatneck side and joined thistle

August 27, 2026

Finished boatneck side, joined thistle for v-neck side

August 30, 2026

Finished body! I think crossed_fingers this time I got the sides even enough that it can be worn either way

Intarsia in the round again!

  1. Picked up all st: one ball of orchid to start, switch to thistle, second ball of orchid - continue with second ball for the rest of the sleeve (79 st????)

  2. Previous just says “yo technique” - I assume something like this - https://knotions.com/tutorial-intarsia-in-the-round/

September 4, 2026

ripped out and started over, hopefully starting intarsia correctly this time

ending purple with the “skip” after pkp pickup

trying this including with the pickup row - https://knotions.com/tutorial-intarsia-in-the-round/

9 st picked up on underarm tab
15 st orchid
37 st thistle
15 st orchid (picked up on 1st ws round)

when 5 purl bumps on rs of thistle, final turn to ws
turn to rs and JUST do the 15 st to the marker, no need for yo? (maybe do the yo on the other sleeve)
bind off, will require extra scrap on the final bit

September 6, 2026

for second sleeve, started pickup with start of orchid and picked up same number of stitches as first sleeve, so no need for scrap on bindoff

doing neck bind-off with 9s
