Cast on with #13 and then switch to 11s
7 rows of ribbing, so I can make the knit side of the caston as the outside
Started with yellow - ribbing ~10gr

First panel complete but leaving stitches live for now
19.5” stockinette measured to just below the cable

finished 2nd front panel last night, cast on back panel
some measurement notes to make sure I leave enough yarn for front band and sleeves
- 6 rows ribbing plus cast on, 22” unstretched - 20.5 gr yarn used
- 17.5” (66 rows) of stockinette (front blue) - ~70gr used
did a bunch of math and probably need to leave 110-120 gr yarn per sleeve? (note: I think that probably makes for a longer sleeve than I want, but good to leave more rather than less)
one stripe on back panel: ~5gr

bound off back after 75 rows stst (~20.5 inches total length)
front panels had one extra row stst, picked back to match before bindoff

seamed shoulders
two options for the sleeve sizing:
- keep size as in pattern, seam 37 rows instead of 57
- proportional to gauge, seam 45 rows and pick up 48 stitches (still 4/5 ratio pickup?)
fwiw, row gauge seems to be big but stitch gauge is pretty close to pattern?

picked up 150st for front band - used this method instead of the one linked in the pattern - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3pgueFygr4

FYI, this is both one of my favorite pieces to wear (I haven’t even gotten around to blocking it yet!), which is a lot about the yarn, and also one of the best written patterns I’ve seen. Excellent for teaching technique, pretty clearly written (altho I had to do some funky math to get the right length with slightly different row gauge), and lots of good links.
Plus I LOVE that each size gets its own page, and that there’s a page with a blank schematic for drawing color block ideas.
