doing the “short wedge” toe from Sock Architecture
CO 20 st (10 each needle)
incr 4st every round to 40st
increase every other round to 68 st
68st to match foot measurement, will need to do some math both with the body pattern and the heel
on last stst round, rearrange to 35/33 split on needles
pattern the same as size S but 8 repeats instead of 6
January 7, 2026
starting heel at 2nd half of round 1 of repeat 11
16st on either side of the increase markers
note to self: increases on odd rounds of pattern, should increase to 33st between markers
January 8, 2026
last round of increase section: round 4/repeat 18
33 st between markers
set up to do pattern on heel turn similar to size S
note: this did not leave an even number of repeats (ended with k1/p1)
January 9, 2026
heel turn short rows: 9 doubled stitches on each side (as for S/M), 15 stitches in the middle (as for L)
restart pattern to the left of the heel decreases with p1 to match at end of row (center stitch will eventually become a purl stitch - note for future reference, recalc pattern so that center stitch at end of decreases is a knit stitch)
January 11, 2026
Final decrease on 1/23 - attempted purled center double decrease
January 13, 2026
on pause pending test fit
for future math:
- foot/heel after round 4 of repeat 23 = 83gr remaining
- one repeat (1-4/24) of leg = ~1gr
- max gr that can be used for each leg: ~30-33gr
February 7, 2026
checked size - foot is correct, preferred leg height is 5” from 1/25
February 12, 2026
ended pattern with round 2 of repeat 42
Bound off after 13 rounds ribbing
67gr remaining

Waiting to weave in cuff ends until Shy has tried them on but otherwise considering these done!
