named after the big lebowski’s maude. the center cable motif reminds me of a vagina. automatically thought of the hilarious conversation between her and the dude…

used photoshop to align the charts and then pdf-ed them for easy viewing and tracking on my laptop.

i started after all chart errata got updated. but it’s still not updated completely on the knitty website (only charts are changed). used sonya66’s great notes to figure out what should be happening after knitting the right back piece.

ultimately, i guess it’s a cool construction; but i’m not sure it’s worth all the hassle (and all the ends that’ll have to be woven in). i think i’d rather knit a front and a back and seam or knit bottom up in round, and join shoulders with a 3-needle bindoff.

joined together and i think this neckline is a bit huge. i’ll hold judgement for when it’s done and maybe fix it after knitting the neckline.

12.24
ok, so i guess the construction is really neat, as i see the sleeve caps taking shape. but it’s still a pain in the ass. this thing knits up fast.

12.25
1st skein has taken me through row 9 of the main chart, or 10 of my 18 increases. hoping to finish knitting another skein today which would take me to 28% done! 2nd skein took me through half of the main chart (row 36).

12.26
leaving out last 2 rounds of increases. stopping at 16 of 18. knitting main vajayjay cable on both front and back. modified first cable cross to be a C12Bp cable.

12.28
gah! cable broke on my chiagoo red circular. emergency run to the yarn shop necessary tomorrow…3rd skein took me through row 66 of 71 on he main chart. moving on to sleeve since i can’t work body until later.

12.29
got a new cable needle: knitters pride Karobonz. Like the tip and it’s got some smooth needles and nice cable. i moved on to the sleeve. i also bought another back-up skein and think i might make these full length sleeves. just not sure…we’ll see when i get there.

12.30
doing the sleeve decreases in the round as written has given me a 12.5” sleeve! it’s supposed to be 11.5 inches. knit 2 plain rows after last sleeve decrease. 1x1 ribbing instead of purl at the sleeve edge. ripped out ribbing. it looked bad. sticking to the purl edges.

01.03
so very close. about an inch of body, the neckline and one sleeve left. sorry for the crappy pics but i was just so happy to see how good it looked. probably the best sweater i’ve ever knit: great marriage of pattern and yarn and the fit is FANTASTIC!

01.04
used size 6 for neckline. picked up 134 stitches for neck. p1 row. p2, p2tog 1 row. p 1 row. bind off in purl.

01.05
had to wind the 7th skein just for 1” of sleeve and the bindoff! grr!!! i was tempted to rip back the first sleeve and make it shorter to prevent using the 7th skein. in the end, decided to just knit it to the correct length, since it’s just cascade. if it was a more expensive yarn, i definitnely would have made the first sleeve shorter to prevent using another skein. almost done! can’t wait to take pics in the snow.

BIND-OFF:
love it so much! so very happy. my best handknit sweater so far!
