I cast on for the short version because I expect the alpaca to grow, and because I don’t think my mother really wants a sweater that long, and most importantly because I’m lazy and didn’t want to knit the longer version!

Cast on for the size 32 and increased for the 34 in the last garter ridge.

Aaaand, it’s too small for her! Despite getting gauge and expecting a 2ish inch positive ease, it wound up having some negative ease. So definitely measure honestly before you knit and don’t scale down if you really want that positive ease.

I will be giving this sweater to my sister (I’m cursed - no matter who I’m trying to knit for, everything I make fits my sister perfectly!!!!). And I will make my mother a new sweater, probably with the same construction but a different cable.
