Notes

1st skein = 18.5 inches on the back in k3p2 rib over 147 stitches
bound off back piece about halfway thru the 2nd skein - biggest and least fun-to-knit piece DONE 10/26 :D

cast on and started for right-front, then realized I’d actually set up for LEFT-front. Here’s why: I prefer long-tail cast on, and so my first row after that is a WS row. I reversed the k/p of each stitch in that setup row, then realized that put the cable panel on the other end of the piece. Luckily, the front pieces for this are mirrors of each other in terms of set up, so I just made the executive decision to do the left-front first. ;) (Mainly noting this here so I remember to do the RIGHT-front setup next time!!)

altered the spacing between cabled sections on both fronts just a tad, to make them easier to keep track of with the sleeve & collar shaping - did as pattern instructs until shaping, and then did chart + enough plain rows to get me to the next shaping. So, “shape armhole” was a plain ribbing section (having just finished a chart repeat), with the next charted/cabled repeat starting at “shape front neck,” and another repeat began at the (paraphrased) ‘bind off all but cabled panel’ row. This meant that the short row section technically should have been cabled, but I worked it in plain ribbing as well. This does make the spacing a titch uneven when viewed closely, but I like the effect AND it made the knitting much simpler for me.

sleeve shaping increases ended in the middle of the 4th chart repeat. modified chart spacing after saddle bindoff as follows: after 2 plain rows and 2 bindoff rows, knit only 10 more rows before starting the final chart repeat, so that I’d have a full 14 rows of chart to top off the saddle.

GRR! had to rip back the second sleeve just after starting the second chart repeat - as I figured I’d do at least once, I crossed the cables in the first repeat the wrong way (following right chart again, instead of left)

all seamed up, FINALLY, and I’m DONE! planning to machine wash & dry it tonight, then will try to get pics up :)

I’ve added pics of it laid out flat, after a few days of wear. I LOVE wearing this!

top pic: front view, left sleeve folded over to show cables, right sleeve folded back out of view - you can see my messy inside collar seam on this one ;)

2nd pic: all 4 cabled panels together, left sleeve, left front, right front, right sleeve

3rd pic: sleeve cables together

4th pic: back laid flat, both sleeves folded under - you can see my messy fix at the top of the back / bottom of the collar where an end worked loose in the wash and I was too impatient to fix it well… I just wanted to get the sweater back ON!

5th pic: the yarn, VERY much a truer color than the sweater pics!

after completing the sweater and wearing it for a few days, I decided to add a belt, and patch pockets on the front.
belt: cast on 28, setup k3,p2x5, k3. knit total 10 rows plain, then cabled as for right front. 14 rows chart, 16 rows plain, until it seemed an appropriate length, then 10 more rows plain. total 12 chart repeats.
pockets(x2): cast on 22, setup p2,k3x4, p2. knit 40 rows plain, then bound off on WS row. will seam with castoff row at bottom of pocket, so caston row shows, to match the bottom of the sweater and sleeves.
