Using a thicker yarn, I had to modify the pattern to get a multiple of 14 stitches repeat which allowed me to cast on 98 stitches (14 x 7).
German twisted cast on (98 stitches both for the cowl and hat) and Icelandic BO to match the CO used.

Cowl: 5 vertical repetitions of the 16 rows pattern. Started on 3.25 mm needles and increased gradually the size of the needles (3.75 mm, 4 mm, 4.5 mm, 5 and 5 5 mm).
Hat: Started on bigger needles (3.75 mm) for the folded brim (32 rows) and continued using 3,25 mm. After completing a R8, first decreases worked on a R9 (p3tog stitches 7, 8 and 9 of each repeat). For a slouchy hat, I should have started to decrease later. Because I wanted a beanie, this time I decreased when the hat’s height was 8 inches (approx. 20 cm).

Malabrigo Washted is a thick superwash yarn and this dark blue color is lovely, but difficult to capture accurately.

I loved this stretchy pattern, it is a great option for a hat or cowl. Next time I intend to use a cotton & silk yarn from my stash for a thinner texture.
