When I discovered your projects and this gorgeous version, I abandoned all my WIP and started to knit a pair for my husband.
I always knit a swatch, but this time I wanted to start immediately, hence the toe-up construction (the pattern provides instructions for both toe-up & cuff down). I started with 24 stitches and it was obvious after several increases that a 56 sts sock will be the perfect fit at my very different gauge for a US 8.5 men size (one inch of negative ease).
My husband loved them!
This is my second time knitting socks, but I’m sure it will not be the last one!

The yarn is from my very old stash (2012). Initially, I bought it to make a scarf, a shawlette and a cardigan …and I forgot about it for a decade. It has some very nice colors, gets much softer after a bath and wears nicely. I will keep using it for other socks.

Toe-up, CO 24 sts (12+12),
After set up rows, 15 rows, increasing on odd rows (m1r, m1l X2) and plain st st on even rows.
Total 56 sts circumference. Increases finished on R15. Slipped sts pattern started on R23 and worked only on the 28 instep sts.
R 70 is R1 of the gusset, 12 sts (2 X6) increased on even rows, gusset ended on R 83.
R 83 is R1 of heel.
17 rows Half Twisted Rib on 2 mm needles, using contrasting yarn, after 1 row stockinette stitch.
