The yarn was in my stash since 2013
Initially, I started to knit June Socks because I wanted a heel which does not interrupt the stripes sequence.
I knitted k3p1 to lign up better with the cuff. For the heel increases, I left the center heel stitch in purl and increased on either side of it (instead of two increases one after the other).
But for the life of me I couldn’t understand how to turn this heel…It is obviously a fleegle heel variant with the increases at the back center wedge. Unfortunately, it is very poorly written. Oh, well…
After finishing the increases as described, I found this Diamond heel tutorial and I used it for the second part of the heels.
I added some short rows immediately after the heel decreases (last pic). My mod greatly improved the fit, otherwise the longer instep makes some funny wrinkles.
I like the final result, they are reversible and the fit is very good.
