Notes

The pattern has dropped. It’s so pretty. I’ll be knitting this one from my Covid sickbed while isolating from all the family. I’m so glad to have something to do.

NEW TO ME SKILLS

  • Wrapped stitches
  • Using a counting thread to count rows

NOTES FOR MODERATORS

  • Team Beethoven
  • Size L
  • Needle size 2.25 mm
  • Leg has 10 additional rounds of row 36 on the chart
  • Foot is 67 rows

diamond_shape_with_a_dot_inside Notes

Not sure where to start counting for the foot length, so asked in Post 596 in the Team Beethoven chat. Questions thread confirms row count excludes toecap.

I knit a larger than my normal size, using a smaller needle, but the ribbing style pulls it in to an acceptable fit, albeit maybe a little larger on the foot than I’d like.

The beads sink in a bit. I’m pretty sure purling, instead of knitting, after they’ve been threaded onto a stitch might bring them forwards a bit.

SM16 IPOMOEA: REQUIREMENTS AND INFORMATION

diamond_shape_with_a_dot_inside Photo Requirements

  1. A photo showing your socks on adult feet or on blockers/faux feet.
  2. A side by side view of the left side of the socks. The cuffs must be at the top of the picture (not on top of each other), and both toes must face left. This must be either on blockers or pinned to a board so that leaf design may be seen. See post 3 in the question thread for reference.
  3. A side by side view of the right side of the socks. The cuffs must be at the top of the picture (not on top of each other), and both toes must face right. This must be either on blockers or pinned to a board so that leaf design may be seen. See post 3 in question thread for reference.
  4. A close up of the beadwork (these beads like to hide so we must be able to see them).

diamond_shape_with_a_dot_inside Additional Requirements

  • The minimum size for competition is Medium (60 st).
  • The cuff and leg must be a minimum of 55 rows.

socks Medium (60 st) - minimum is 12 cuff rows, 36 chart rows, and 7 additional repeats of row 36
socks Large (72 st) - minimum is 14 cuff rows, 36 chart rows, and 5 additional repeats of row 36
socks Extra Large (84 st) - minimum is 16 cuff rows, 36 chart rows, and 3 additional rounds of row 36.

  • Additional cuff rows or additional repeats of row 36 may be added, but this DOES NOT change the above required minimums (i.e. if you do 5 additional cuff rounds you must still do the required additional repeats of row 36 and vice versa).
  • Heel - as written.
  • Foot and Gusset

socks Medium - 71 rows
socks Large - 66 rows
socks Extra Large - 62 rows

  • There must be a counting thread in a contrasting solid color (the brighter the better) used for this pattern, on both socks. This thread must be placed between stitches 11 and 12 on the first chart repeat (this will be between the leaves), be flipped every 5 stitches, and will run from cuff to toe.
