Needle size

The pattern recommends using a needle “at least” 3 needle sizes bigger than the ball and recommendation. For this yarn, the recommendation is 2-3mm needles,which translates to 5-6mm when factoring in the size increase. I initially tried a size between the two - 5.5mm - but felt it might be a little too airy, so went for a 5mm needle.

Comments

Despite sizing down a needle, this shawl grew and grew and grew. I’ve used much more yarn than the pattern called for, and it’s huge! I followed the pattern and didn’t knit extra rows, but it’s bigger than I think I thought it would be. I do love it though.
