Super expensive yarn, but sooooo nice to work with.
Check out the song in the original pattern description - great song! Thanks, Adam!
Knitted in a gradient died yarn - I set aside the very beginning of the gradient to use for afterthought heels - not my favorite heel treatment, but I don’t want to interrupt the gradient on the front of the foot/leg.
Converted to knit two at a time toe up (just knit chart 2 first, then chart 1, and turn them upside down - easy peasy!)
Toe: Cast on 12 and used yarn over increases every other row (comes out the same as a lifted increase)
Heel: As mentioned before - using an afterthought heel with yarn reserved from the end of the gradient.
Leg: Continue the pattern around to the back until ready for cuff. Added another V of pattern on the shin for interest.
Cuff: 2x2 ribbing with yarn reserved from toe end of gradient.
IF I WERE TO KNIT THIS AGAIN:
I would carry the full pattern for quite a few rows - perhaps all the way up the ankle and to the shin - and then taper it off. The ripply pattern is beautiful, and I think could be used to more advantage.
