The body of the left mitten is complete! There’s some mistakes, but I’m generally happy with it.

Issues I had:

• There’s some tension issues at the DPNs meet, most notably at the beginning of round. I’m hopeful will improve with blocking
• My original chart did not provide enough increases for the thumb gusset, so I added those in. I will update my chart to reflect the changes before doing the right mitten.
• I forgot about those extra increases and did not decrease for them, so when I got to the end, I had more stitches on the palm side than on the back of the hand. I had to add extra decreases at the end to make them match to finish by grafting
• My grafting tension was uneven and was a bit messy. I wanted to undo and try again, but the yarn tore. I spit spliced to be able to weave in the end, but I don’t want to risk the integrity of the finish by redoing it
• I think I need a bit more space in the thumb, both in the number of stitches I hold and row height where I stop the thumb gusset. It’s big enough that I am leaving it as is here, but will leave more ease for future mittens and gloves

All done! Ends are weaved in and the mittens are blocking. Overall, I’m pretty happy with the result, but I’ve learned some lessons for the next time I make gloves or mittens.
