I found the directions for the light-brown cheek plates confusing. Conceptually, it’s two circles, joined by a rectangle. Most of the rectangle is built out from the first piece, after most of the circular part is finished. When the second piece has gotten to the 18-stitch round, then it attaches to the partial rectangle At the other end, another round is added to the first piece (but the directions might be in error here. Where it says (2sc, inc)x4, I needed another 4 stitches to get to the side of the rectangle. Similarly, I needed 4 more sc stitches on the last round of the “2nd piece” section. Unless this is not meant to lay flat. I’ll find out when I try to attach it to the head.

…. also, I’ll probably sew together the gap between the “2nd piece” and the rectangle.

Lesson learned: Make the parts as you are ready for them. I couldn’t tell the small toe-pads from the claws, and I’m not sure about the nose vs the ears.

It took me 2 tries to understand the directions for the nose. The first attempt was REALLY messed up. If I haven’t tossed it, I may take a picture for laughs.

Also, I had to buy felting needles for this. Seems to have turned out nicely. I got all the stripes (not finished yet, but it is apparent now) from one piece of felt, and although the back couldn’t be one continuous piece, the joins were pretty smooth. I’m also amazed (never played with felting needles before) that this worked so well. Neither the “felt” nor the body I’m attaching it to is wool, but that doesn’t seem to matter.

As for felting, it worked really great to attach the eyes, not so good for the parts that bend.
