I cast on on the train to work.

The patterned part on th3 first sleeve is done. I sewed up the sides and continued in the round (dim the selvedge sts). After 4 Inc rows I feel the sleeve will be too wide.
We will see. I continue.

I measured the stockinette part’s gauge:
Unwashed : 24x32 en moyenne. That means I should be good following the pattern as is. Great.

Also, I am in the straight part of the sleeve and it look good width wise. I am glad I joined to work in the round as I can try and really see the fit. Must not forget to take out the two selvedge sts from the pattern when I count, becaus I had to frog back after realizing I must not go the 97, but 95.

After last increase, knit 30 rows. Then follow dec for armhole, taking out one less stitch at two first rows.

Started the plain part of the second sleeve in Utrecht. My new dream town.
I regret not having a 4 mm needle to play with the yarn I bought in Amsterdam.

Knitting the back. Attained the armhole shaping after last six repeat + 30 rows. (36 since last Inc)

I kept 23 stitches on each side of the neck bind off. Need to distribute 5 more sts in the shoulder slope decreases, and also 5 less decreases in the front neckline shaping on each side.

Row 2 RS: BO 1 st, k to end.
Row 3 WS: BO 7 sts, p to end.
Row 4 RS: BO 1 st, k to end.
Row 5 WS: Bo 7 P to the end
Row 6 RS: K all sts
Row 7 WS: BO rem 7 sts

Reverse sides and k/p for the other shoulder.

Later the same day :

Finished the back this morning, and started on the first front. And…
When I was knitting the back, I doubted myself and counted I think a few times… and still managed to make one crossing motif less in the back bottom border.
So now I need to do the same mistake on the fronts, and hope for the best in the fitting.
When I doubt, I really need to sleep first then count again!

About 1 1/2 sleeves to go. And the ties (if I knit them.)

I have kept a purled stitch between the neckline decrease line and the border pattern. I was really perturbed by the sudden k stitch and did not like the result at all, so I frogged that stitch down 10 cm and crochet it back in purl.

Neckline shaping
When dec on each right side: 36 decreases total
When dec every other right row : 6 dec tot.
Should arrive to 32 sts left. When all shaping is done.

First front part finished. One to go and the knitting is done!

Started sewing up yesterday.
As my gauge is quite firm, it isn’t much fun. Right now I am 2/3 done on a sleeve, but that is enough for today.
I will now reward myself with swatching with the yarn I bought in Amsterdam.

04.12.2024 sewing the sleeve tip

Starting when the sleeve decrease on each row, I alternated two bars, one bar, two bars etc on the sleeve side.
For the last 3 inches on top of the sleeve, I calculated I needed to alternate one bars, two bars on the body part.
The result is pretty much perfect.

If I were to knit this again, I would keep my modification for the neckline, but would make less increases after the waist. As it I wear it width pleasure and pride, but it is a bit roomier than necessary.
I may still undo the back of the neck, shorten a bit the back collar parts and sew them again to slightly shrink the back width there. I tried pinching the fabric and it improves the fit and the silhouette.

With the bitter cold we’ve had, I like the long sleeves. They are very nice and warm extending out of my coat.
The shaping at the wrist helps keep them higher on my arms when needed.
