I found the design linked in the crochet community on LJ.

I used a single fairly thin strand of cotton/rayon yarn. The pix don’t show it, but the yarn has blue and red bits in it, which combine for the overall purplish effect.

This shawl won a red ribbon (second place) at the San Mateo County Fair in 2004.
