Notes

This Shawl was selected to be the project for Vermont Sheep and Wool Festival 2026. Erika Field of Grapefruit and Gardenia and the Knit kind podcast is the designer. It is an ample, triangular sized shawl. The Roots Yarn is so squishy and will create an item to keep people cozy.
The pattern is well written, with details on how to modify the pattern to make it bigger and maximize wool yardage. Since the Roots Dk is a heavy DK with a yardage of 200 per skein, 1 skein per color is not enough to complete the shawl. But 250 yards per color would be. The darker color, charcoal, actually finished when I was in the “optional” section of the shawl. This project keeps the knitter interested. I started one for myself a while ago but after knitting this sample I think I will change one of the yarns to get a more similar effect.at the end of the shawl with the optional part knitted as in the photo sample from the designer, I had a shawl that weighed 387 grams. The leftovers were : 98 grams of the charcoal yarn; 88 grams of the silver yarn; 74 grams of the undyed yarn.
