I created this dress for the Vogue Knitting Magic of Mohair Design Competition in 2011. I was chosen as a finalist and this dress was featured in a fashion show at Vogue Knitting Live 2011. My design didn’t make it into the magazine but I am so thrilled to have been chosen as a finalist!

Most of the dress is knit in a cream colored mohair yarn with a silver thread running through it, the trim around the neck, armholes, and under bust was done in a silver silk. I used strategically placed dropped stitches to create the sections of floating yarn. My favorite thing about this dress is what happens when the wearer moves, especially twirls. The bottom of the skirt opens up and lifts into the air!
