Notes

This was one of those occasions where I let the yarn choose the stitch. I swatched quite a bit, but when I tried this basketweave style stitch, “Woven Tile,” I felt like that was the one. The diagonal squares show off the speckles in an interesting, new way. Sections of Woven Tile are separated by cables that shift and twist as they move toward the top of the hat, where all the elements come together.

I liked this hat so much that I made a second one in a neutral, tonal yarn. This one turned out a little larger than expected after blocking, so it has a nice slouchy fit. I made the second one in the smaller size so I would also have a fitted version. They both turned out so nicely, I’m not sure which one is my favorite.
