10-08-2018 - halfway through first mitt

I ended up using a size 3 needle instead of the 2 I used for the original pair of mitts. My stitch gauge matches but the row gauge is off, making the mitts longer than the original pair, but I don’t mind. Hopefully I won’t run out of yarn. It’s interesting how using solid yarns makes the stripes so much bolder, rather than the colors blending into one another smoothly like the speckled yarn did.

Finished weaving in ends last night, blocking now. As mentioned in the previous note, my stitch gauge matched the pattern but the row gauge was off, making the mitts a couple of inches longer than intended. But I also used the original version of the pattern that went by row count rather than measurement for length. So using the new pattern, even if the row gauge was off, they would be the right length. That being said, I actually like the extra length, especially on the fingers! I think I’ll be wearing these a lot this winter!
