This is a sideways knit garter st blanket with a 3 st i-cord edge and stripes running lengthwise instead of across.

i-cord: the number of sts for the i-cord can be any number; it’s really is up to you. i chose 3 because it would make a nice tight by rounded edge. i think an odd number like 5 or 7 would make a better rounded edge than an even number would i think and even number may tend to fold in half, which might be nice if that’s what you’re looking for:)

body: this is really too easy and many would find it downright boring but it is something you can do while listening to some lecture:) or something that requires your attention because this blanket really doesn’t:D

here’s what i did:
CO: 162 st using “Helen’s Double Chain Cast On”
http://bit.ly/1YiZBFv which yielded 78”

rs - knit all sts
ws - for the i-cord selvage edge: slip 3 sts purlwise move the yarn to the back in preparation to knit, pulling yarn tight (creating the i-cord by closing the gap) and knit the next st; continue knitting all st until you have 3 st left; move yarn to the front and slip the last 3 sts purlwise, turn, knit the 1st st while pulling the yarn tight (creating the i-cord by closing the gap)
